Just got the art bundle from sodastream direct for a bit more with their recent -25%. Also bought a big CO2 canister to refill for approximately 1/40th the cost - highly recommended if you plan to use often!

How much you paid in the big canister? I got 2 extra on sodastream on clearance at Walmart for 10 each... Was thinking to fill the 4 I have with dry ice

Was there a guide you followed to connect the large CO2 canister? I've been thinking about doing the same.

Yep, I did the same thing (not from this exact video but same idea). I can't imagine how much money I've saved over the past 2-3 years. Although I'm making a lot more carbonated water now because it's so easy and cheap too. 😆

Is this better and cheaper option than just buying cases of zero calorie sodas?

Compare to San Pellegrino or Perrier, Sodastream seems to be 40-70% cheaper. ~$20 for ~12L compare to ~$15 for 30-60L CO2 tank (Sodastream official price, so this can go down significantly lower).

And Sodastream direct website seems to be selling for $69.99 with 3 CO2 tanks… Usually, Costco sale price always beats the manufacturer price, which is weird. That's a pretty bold move, as if they don't want to sell through Costco anymore. lol

the rumor was they were trying to stop people from using large tanks by changing the unit itself, i dont think they have achieved this

Drinkmate is a better solution overall because you can carbonate any beverage not just water

If you carbonate water and add juice or flavoring the carbonation is lost, that's not the case with directly carbonating juice or recarbonating some soda that went flat

I was looking for a tactical sodastream. Do you swing the tanks around like nunchuks?

Having owned both Sodastream and Drinkmate, get the Drinkmate. Much more versatile and the carbonation is stronger (meaning less wasted gas).

Does it have a mode or a way to carbonate things at a lower level like soda kind of carbonation instead of seltzer which is too strong

I'll echo what others have said. I have a Soda-stream specific adapter hose and 5lb tank (search both on Amazon, it'll come right up). The tank is ~$20 to swap at my local welding supply store. ALL CO2 in the U.S. is food grade nowadays. I get months of gas for a reasonable amount instead of paying highway robbery prices for Soda Stream's BS proprietary tiny tanks.

Also, check Facebook marketplace for a Soda Stream if that's your style. I got mine for $10. So all in it was about $200 up front, and now every glass of seltzer I make is functionally free.

OC, CA: $196 for a 15 pound CO2 tank. Connector was available on Amazon for $30 or so.
