Have two of these units and have been very pleased with them. One this size in my craft room (holds 12" paper pads) and the other is an 8 cube I have in the living room with my sitting TV on. Not bad to put together just need a lot of space (did all mine myself, but an extra pair of hands would be useful). Both have held up well, esp the 16 cube given it is loaded down with stuff (admittedly probably more than it should be). I also have a smaller comparable one from Target that has held well too, so whichever you can get the better deal on/more convenient to get, is what I'd go with.

Do recommend anchoring it to a wall. Not that they're unsteady, mine have been rock solid, but if a kid or pet were to climb it, or there was an earthquake or something you don't want it hurting anyone.
I have this and it is way more flimsy than the IKEA Kallax. It is not that stable and will sway if you push on one of the ends. I only got it because there's not an IKEA near where I live now. Would not recommend this at all if you are able to get a Kallax instead.
* Bins sold separately

So add another $40+ if you actually want what's shown in the photo.

While true, I would say BH&G's storage organization is better than it's competitors. Solid, and good quality. Right out of the box it looks and feels better than anything else you can buy. I have two "1 x 3"'s flanking my front TV stage in my man cave.

Do you have the link for matching bins?

I have this and agree with others that it is extremely flimsy. What I did to strengthen it were small L brackets in the back corners with little screws.

I decided to move it to a walk-in closet after strengthening, and it swayed a lot, and I was very slow and deliberate. Now it's in a set place, it is very useful and doesn't sway. But I am mindful not to put anything in that is very heavy.

You have these exact ones? I have this model and Ikea Kallax, and have found the BH&G to be very sound. I agree that other brands are inferior, but IMHO these are as good as IKEA if not better. I tried the ones from Target and found them vastly inferior. Walmart also has the Mainstays brand, which is inferior. Could you be thinking of those?

So the Kallax unit is $139 for the 3 colors and the white is $169.This unit is also heavier. IKEA shows each of the 2 boxes at around 40lbs each.Doesn't necessarily mean better quality. We have several of the big Kallax units and they are rock solid.

I have about 15 of these in various sizes, they are a good value for the money. Make sure you rotate it so that the weight sits on the long shelves instead of the short shelves and it will hold plenty of weight. Never had one break, moved them cross country

I have a couple of the 6 cube ones, they're pretty sturdy, but the 12 cube is too delicate. You have to stick the pegs in all of the holes before you put on the top/bottom/sides, but I just moved it over slightly to line them up, and one of the pegs lifted the mdf up, destroying the hole. I had to pack it up and take it back to Walmart, and it's very heavy. Luckily, I have a commercial hand truck.

Local Costco has 8 shelf with bins on sales for $100, solid wood as well. That's much better quality for the price

It is MDF, not "solid wood", 8 cubes, not 16, and not $100 online, either
